About

I'm a photographer and cinematographer based in Los Angeles with a deep interest in cameras, imaging technology, and the process behind making photographs. I hold a BFA in Cinematography from Columbia College Hollywood and currently work in the camera industry, where my technical interest in photographic equipment has become as much a part of my work as it is my personal practice.

My work spans digital and analog photography, cinematography, and an ever-growing interest in photographic processes. I'm particularly drawn to film and medium-format photography, where the limitations and slower pace make the act of photographing as important to me as the finished image.

Outside of photography, my interests in travel, music, coffee, collecting, and technology continue to shape the way I observe and document the world.

Approach

Photography gives me a reason to go out, explore, and pay attention. I'm particularly drawn to cities, landscapes, architecture, and the smaller details that define a place. I enjoy the entire photographic process—from choosing a camera and film to making the photograph, developing the negative, and working with the final image. Sometimes I wait for the decisive moment; other times I hunt for the composition.

Cinematography approaches the same instinct from the opposite direction. Instead of searching for a scene, I help create one. I like to begin with blocking and the physical space, then build the image around what the scene needs. I approach cinematography with the same attention to framing that I bring to still photography, while photography sometimes becomes an exercise in creating order within what is already in front of me.

In either medium, I'm interested in the process of looking carefully and finding the frame. Sometimes that results in an image I'm proud of; sometimes I come away with nothing more than the experience of making it.
